Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, was involved in a car accident in Maryland over the weekend, where he was found at fault. The incident shed light on his history of distracted driving and driving infractions, as revealed by police records and former aides.

According to a witness to the crash, Fetterman was driving well above the speed limit of 70 miles per hour on Eisenhower Memorial Highway in western Maryland. His vehicle rear-ended another vehicle, resulting in both him and his wife, Gisele Barreto Fetterman, as well as the other driver, being taken to the hospital. The vehicles involved were towed from the scene.

Images of Fetterman’s totaled SUV were obtained by WPXI, and the Maryland police records were originally reported by USA Today. After being released from the hospital, Fetterman shared a video on social media where he mentioned the crash had affected their plans to celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary, but assured that both he and his wife were okay.

Interestingly, some of Fetterman’s former staff members were not surprised by the accident, as they described him as a distracted driver who often engaged in video calls and read news articles on his phone while driving. They expressed feeling anxious whenever he was behind the wheel.

This incident raises concerns about the dangers of distracted driving and the importance of staying focused on the road to prevent accidents. It serves as a reminder to all drivers to prioritize safety and avoid engaging in any activities that may divert their attention while driving.
