A young man dismantled his suitcase at Mallorca airport shortly before departure in order to avoid the additional charge for hand luggage.

Anyone who wants to take too much hand luggage on the plane has to pay. This is the practice of more and more airlines. Now a young man at Palma airport has simply dismantled his hand luggage before checking in in order to avoid the additional fee, as the “Mallorcamagazin” reports.

Previously, the airline apparently wanted to charge him because his suitcase exceeded the permitted hand luggage size.

Determined not to pay the amount demanded, the young vacationer simply worked on his suitcase until it reached the maximum permitted size. This unusual and creative way of protesting against the airline’s additional fee attracted a great deal of attention from his fellow travelers.

A video was made of the action, which was posted on X (Twitter) and quickly went viral. “A boy breaks the wheels off his suitcase to avoid having to check in with Ryanair and saves 70 euros,” it says.

It is not known whether the man was successful in his action and whether his flight finally took place without further delay or additional costs.
