Rep. Andrew Clyde, a House lawmaker from Georgia, has introduced a new bill called the “No Guns for Illegal Aliens Act.” The purpose of this bill is to prevent illegal immigrants from purchasing firearms using government-issued IDs. He expressed concerns about the possibility of people who are in the country illegally being able to buy guns through the same process as a U.S. citizen.

Clyde also criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for their handling of border issues. He accused Harris of allowing criminal illegal aliens to enter the country and roam the streets, while he criticized Walz for offering driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, which he believes could lead to more crime.

The lawmaker, who is also a gun store owner with over 30 years of experience, is part of a larger effort by House Republicans to draw attention to crimes committed by illegal immigrants in the U.S. He referenced several high-profile incidents, including the killings of Rachel Morin, Laken Riley, and 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, to support his argument.

While a study by the National Institute of Justice shows that the rate of crimes committed by illegal immigrants is lower than that of U.S. citizens, Republicans argue that entering the country illegally is a crime in itself. They believe that implementing tougher border and immigration laws could prevent instances of violent crime by illegal immigrant groups.

Currently, 19 states plus Washington, D.C., offer driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has also developed a pilot program to distribute federal IDs called “Secure Docket Cards” to individuals who cross the border illegally and are awaiting immigration proceedings. It is unclear whether these IDs can be used to purchase guns.

The article mentioned that the Minnesota Governor’s Office did not immediately respond to requests for comment, directing inquiries to the Harris-Walz campaign. Fox News Digital also reached out to the Office of the Vice President for comment but did not receive a response.

Rep. Clyde’s bill and his criticisms of Harris and Walz highlight the ongoing debate surrounding illegal immigration, gun control, and border security in the United States. Lawmakers continue to grapple with finding solutions to address these complex issues and ensure the safety and security of the country and its citizens.
