A family from Colorado is asking for help to bring their dad back home after he became seriously ill on a cruise and is now stranded in Denmark. Guy and Adrian Matlock set off on a 14-day northern European cruise to celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary with friends. Unfortunately, Guy fell ill on the sixth day and had to be hospitalized in Copenhagen, Denmark.

According to a GoFundMe page organized by his daughter Moriah Matlock, what started as Influenza type A developed into pneumonia and sepsis, causing his lungs, heart, and kidneys to fail. Despite some improvement, Guy still has a long way to go in his recovery. His heart is recovering from cardiac arrest, his lungs are getting stronger, and his need for a ventilator and dialysis is decreasing. However, he has also experienced mini strokes in his brain, affecting his ability to wake up quickly.

The doctors recommend that Guy be taken back home for his brain to heal, but the cost of a medevac flight is over $150,000, with insurance covering only a small portion of it. The family has managed to raise $32,566 through their GoFundMe campaign, but they are still far from the total needed. They are asking for any kind of help, whether it’s financial donations, prayers, advice, or resources based on similar experiences.

The Matlock family is grateful for the support and kind words they have received during this difficult time. They are open to any assistance that can help bring Guy back home safely. If you are unable to donate, they ask that you consider sharing their story to reach a wider audience who may be able to help in any way possible. Your support and generosity can make a difference in reuniting this family during a challenging time.
