Hezbollah launched a series of rockets into northern Israel, near the city of Haifa, after the Israeli military reported over 100 projectiles coming from Lebanon. The Lebanese group claimed that their rockets hit a military base east of Haifa. The Israel Defense Forces stated that approximately 180 rockets were fired by Hezbollah in response to IDF strikes that killed senior Hezbollah leaders.
The IDF assured that they would continue defending Israel against the threats posed by Hezbollah. In Kiryat Ata, near Haifa, at least five people suffered injuries from the rocket attack, according to Magen David Adom. There were reports of a three-story building and two cars damaged by the rockets.
This escalation of attacks by Hezbollah follows a recent incident where a UAV was launched towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea. Fortunately, Netanyahu and his wife were not home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has intensified its assaults on Israel following successful IDF operations that targeted the group’s communications and key leaders. In addition to Hezbollah, Hamas, another Iran-backed group, has also faced significant losses. The recent killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar by Israeli forces has dealt a major blow to Iran’s proxy groups.
Despite these losses, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reaffirmed the commitment of the “Axis of Resistance” to continue opposing Israel and the U.S. Khamenei stated that Hamas would persist despite Sinwar’s death and that the group’s resistance would continue.
Sinwar, known for orchestrating a major attack on Israel in 2023 that led to conflict in Gaza, was killed after a year-long pursuit by Israeli forces. Khamenei praised Sinwar’s dedication to the resistance against Israel and vowed continued support for fighters aligned with the cause.
The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah, Hamas, and Israel underscores the complex power dynamics in the Middle East. Iran’s support for these proxy groups has fueled tensions in the region for years.
