An Uber Eats driver in Florida was recently accused of eating a customer’s food and spitting in her face. The incident took place in Davenport, Florida on September 12th. The driver, Alexsandra Del Valle Acosta Aguilar, was caught by the customer removing food from the bag she had ordered while outside her home.
When the customer confronted Aguilar, she allegedly spat in her face after an argument ensued. The victim then reported that Aguilar went on to steal two decorative pumpkins from her home before driving away. Police were able to track Aguilar to her home in Winter Garden, Florida, where she admitted to making a delivery to the victim’s address.
Despite the victim’s brain injury affecting her ability to identify Aguilar from a photo pack, she described the suspect as a medium-built Hispanic female in her late 20s to early 30s with long black hair, which matched Aguilar’s description. Based on the victim’s statement, the suspect’s confession, and records from Uber Eats, Aguilar was arrested and charged with burglary with assault and grand theft from a dwelling.
The victim’s encounter with Aguilar has raised concerns about the safety and security of food delivery services like Uber Eats. Customers rely on these services for convenience and efficiency, but incidents like this highlight the potential risks involved. It is essential for companies like Uber Eats to prioritize customer safety and implement stricter screening procedures for their drivers to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This incident serves as a reminder for customers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior from delivery drivers. It is crucial to prioritize personal safety and take necessary precautions when interacting with strangers, especially in vulnerable situations like receiving deliveries at home.
In response to the incident, both the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and Uber Eats were contacted for comments, but there has been no response yet. As the investigation continues, it is important for authorities to hold individuals accountable for their actions and ensure that justice is served for the victim who had to endure such a traumatic experience.
