Veterans Day Parade and Events in Downtown Montgomery
A day full of patriotism, honor, and activities is set to take place in downtown Montgomery on November 11th, bringing back the spirit of Veterans Day celebrations. Barbara Clark, the coordinator of the Veterans Day parade, expressed her excitement for this year’s event, marking its return to the city.
The Veterans Day celebration is proudly presented by Mayor Steven L. Reed, the city of Montgomery, and the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs, recognizing the 377,310 veterans residing in the state. The parade will kick off on Dexter Avenue in downtown Montgomery from 9 to 11 a.m., led by Sandra Lucas, the grand marshal and assistant commissioner of outreach and engagement for the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs.
Following the parade, a resource fair will be hosted from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium, the home of the Montgomery Biscuits baseball team, offering veterans and their families the opportunity to connect with organizations providing essential resources and support services. Food trucks will also be available outside for attendees to enjoy.
Riverwalk Stadium will further host a patriotic ceremony from noon to 1 p.m., dedicated to expressing gratitude and paying tribute to the sacrifices made by veterans. As a token of appreciation, 1,000 turkeys will be given away to veterans and active-duty military personnel after the ceremony, sponsored by Walmart.

These events serve as a testament to the community’s gratitude and respect for the service and sacrifices of our veterans. They provide a platform for individuals to come together, honor our heroes, and offer support to those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country.
As we approach Veterans Day, let us join hands in celebrating and thanking our veterans for their invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to our nation’s freedom and security. Their bravery and resilience inspire us all to come together as a community and show our appreciation for their selfless service.
