Pella High School’s football team is gearing up to face Clear Creek-Amana in the opening round of the playoffs tonight. Despite a loss to Gilbert last week, the Dutch still secured the number three spot in the final RPI rankings with an 8-1 record. Clear Creek-Amana, with a 6-3 record, is also coming off a strong season as co-district champions.
Both teams have dynamic quarterbacks – CCA’s Conlan Poynton and Pella’s Colin Kerndt. Poynton has impressive passing and rushing yards, while Kerndt has shown his skills in both areas as well. The two teams have similarities in their playing styles, according to coach Jay McKinstrey.
The game is set to kick off at 7:00 tonight at Ron & Joyce Schipper Stadium in Pella. This will be Pella’s first home playoff game since 2020. Fans can tune in to 92.1 KRLS or Pella Dutch Live on YouTube for live coverage starting at 6:30. It’s sure to be an exciting matchup between two evenly matched teams.
