Central Minnesota runners showcased their talent at a local cross country meet, with the state meet scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 2 at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course. St. John’s Prep’s girls team secured a spot in the meet by finishing 2nd in their section meet, while Cathedral’s girls cross country team, the defending Class A champions, also qualified.
Notable performances include St. John’s Prep’s Margaret Duffy, a sophomore from Cold Spring, who clinched the first position at the section meet. Becker’s boys and girls teams also secured a place in the state meet, showcasing the depth of talent in Central Minnesota.

Unfortunately, St. John’s Prep’s Louise Ruzanic, a 12th grader, discovered a stress fracture in her foot after the conference meet, impacting her participation in the upcoming state meet.
Other schools represented at the state meet include Cathedral, St. Cloud Tech, ROCORI, Sartell-St. Stephen, Apollo, St. Cloud Christian, and Becker. Each school will be sending talented runners to compete at the prestigious event.
Becker’s girls team comprises Katelyn Brower (11th grade), Alyse Denne (7th grade), Lorelei Swanson (9th grade), Evie Malisheski (7th grade), Anna Wynia (8th grade), Laney Hodel (9th grade), and Alyssa Brower (9th grade), showcasing a promising lineup.
