Dion Waiters had a mix of good and bad times during his time with the Miami Heat from 2016-20. In a recent interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Waiters reflected on his mistakes with the team, including a 10-game suspension for consuming edibles that caused a panic attack on a team flight in 2019. He was also suspended for six games after posting a picture of himself partying when he had told the team he was sick.

Despite these setbacks, Waiters had some productive seasons with the Heat, averaging 13.9 points. However, he never quite reached the potential that was expected of him when he was a lottery pick in 2012 by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Waiters acknowledged that he learned valuable lessons from playing under Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.

Now at 32 years old, Waiters still believes he has something to offer to an NBA team, even though he hasn’t played since 2020. It remains to be seen if he will get another opportunity to showcase his skills on the court.

It’s clear that Waiters’ time with the Heat was a learning experience for him. Despite the challenges he faced, he seems to have gained some valuable insights that could benefit him in the future. Time will tell if he gets another chance to prove himself in the NBA.
