The footage revealed Alexander looking frail and unhealthy, conveying forced messages to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President-elect Trump. The National Security Council (NSC) spokesman, Sean Savett, affirmed the White House’s awareness of the situation and assured ongoing communication with Alexander’s family.
In response to the video, the White House emphasized the need for Hamas to release the hostages, asserting that ending the conflict in Gaza and alleviating the suffering of its people hinges on this crucial step. Despite previous refusals from Hamas, President Biden is committed to tirelessly pursuing the release of hostages in Gaza.
The release of the footage coincided with a 60-day ceasefire agreement between the IDF and Hezbollah in Lebanon, brokered by President Biden. During the announcement, Biden acknowledged Hamas’s lack of cooperation in negotiating a ceasefire and hostage release, underscoring the plight of civilians in Gaza.
Edan Alexander’s parents, Yael and Adi Alexander, shared their son’s story on a recent appearance on “Fox & Friends,” recounting his bravery and resilience while in captivity. They highlighted a meeting with President-elect Trump, where they recounted Edan’s reassuring words to fellow captives, instilling hope and strength in challenging times.
