“Ben Roethlisberger and that I met yesterday and we had a successful meeting” Rooney said. “We could go over a whole lot of things that are related to where we are and where we wish to go. Ben promised me that he’s committed to coming back to help us win, and I told Ben that we’d love to get back him to help us win a tournament. We understand that the next thing to do is to solve Ben’s contract scenario.”
The last season of Roethlisberger’s present deal includes a $41.2 million limit hit, though a contract restructure and expansion could reduce that by a max of approximately $14 million.
Roethlisberger, who turns 39 next week, could choose to have a pay cut into the veterans minimal, which would place his cap strike just over $23 million.
In an announcement to NFL Network on Tuesday night, Roethlisberger’s representative, Ryan Tollner, stated”we are pleased to adjust his contract to assist them assemble the best team possible.”
