Simone Biles is departing Nike to combine Athleta, which will help host a post-Olympics tour which she is organizing herself, instead of one that is normally conducted by USA Gymnastics.
In a meeting with the Wall Street Journal, Biles stated that she hopes that the partnership enables her to take part in”honest discussions” with girls and women, and believed Athleta was a much better route to continue to push home the concept of causes she believes .
“I felt as though it was not just about my accomplishments, it is exactly what I stood for and the way they were going to assist me utilize my voice and be a voice for both kids and females,” Biles told the Journal. “I feel as that they also encourage me, not only like an athlete, but only as a person out the gym and also the shift I wish to make, which can be really refreshing.”
Biles noted she felt as though she had been linking a business”really for women by women.” The business said it’s a 97-percent female work force, the Journal reported. Details of the deal weren’t announced.
