Ash Barty, who is the top-ranked tennis player, won her first Wimbledon title beating Karolina Pliskova three sets to one.
Barty made a quick start to gain momentum against Pliskova. She then overcome a wobble to win 6-3.
Pliskova, eighth-seeded, didn’t win any points in the first three games. Then she double-failed on break point to give Barty a 4-0 lead.
Barty served in the match at 6-5 in set 2. However, he made several forehand mistakes to allow Pliskova to win the match. The Australian took a 3-0 lead during the third set, and held serve for the remainder of the match.
This is Barty’s second Grand Slam title. She won the 2019 French Open.
Pliskova was making her second Grand Slam final. She finished second at the 2016 U.S Open.

Karolina Pliskova beat Ash Barty to win the second set in the women’s Wimbledon final.
Pliskova won 7-6 (4) after coming back from a break down twice and leveled the match. After racing to a 4-0 lead, Barty won the opening set 6-3.
Pliskova seemed more settled in the second, even though she gave Barty a break at 6-5, after leading 40-0 in the first set. Barty, however, struggled to serve the match and missed three forehands.
Pliskova led the tiebreaker by a score of 6-2 and won it when Barty double faltered.

Pliskova, eighth-seeded, didn’t win any points in the first three games. Then she double-failed on break point to give Barty a 4-0 lead.
Pliskova broke up with Barty in the next match, but then she dropped her serve again and lost to Barty. Before Barty gave the set, she finally held serve.

The final of the women’s Wimbledon between Ash Barty, eighth-ranked and Karolina Pliskova, is underway
Even though it was raining later, the match started with Centre Court’s retractable roof open.
Barty is seeking her second Grand Slam title. She is also trying to be the first Australian woman to win the Wimbledon title since Evonne Goolagong 1980.
Pliskova was a former No. Pliskova is a former No. 1 player looking for her first Grand Slam title. In 2016, she lost in the U.S. Open final.

The royal couple sat to loud applause as top-seeded Ash Barty, eighth-seeded Karolina Piliskova entered Centre Court for their final.

Wimbledon’s men’s singles final will see a female umpire, which is the first time this has happened in the history of the tournament.
Marija Cicak (a 43-year old Croatian woman) will officiate Sunday’s match between Novak Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini at the All England Club.
Cicak was selected by the club on Saturday.
Since 2012, she has been a chair umpire for the gold badge and is part of the WTA Elite Team.
Cicak served as chair umpire in the 2014 Wimbledon women’s final, and three years later, the women’s doubles final. Cicak also officiated at Rio de Janeiro Olympics the women’s singles gold-medal match.

Ash Barty, the top-seeded player in the Grand Slam final at Wimbledon will be aiming for her second Grand Slam title against eighth-seeded Karolina pliskova.
Rain is expected for Saturday, so the match may be played with Centre Court’s retractable roof closed.
Barty, who is trying to be the first Australian woman to win Wimbledon since Evonne Goolagong 1980, has a 5-2 advantage in career meetings with Pliskova.
Barty won 2019 French Open.
Pliskova was a former No. Pliskova is a former No. 1 player and is seeking her first Grand Slam title. In 2016, she lost in the U.S. Open final.
Pliskova defeated No. 2 Aryna Sabahlenka beat Pliskova in Wimbledon semifinals. She is now trying to achieve something that only three women have attempted in the Open era which began in 1968, which is winning the championship at All England Club and beating the top two seeds along the way.
On Thursday, Angelique Kerber, 2018 champion, was eliminated by Barty.
James Keothavong will serve as the chair umpire in the final.
