Spyglass Media Group has made it official that Hulu and Spyglass Media Group will be hosting David Bruckner’s Hellraiser reboot.

Jamie Clayton, Sense8 actress and The L Word: Generation Q actor, has been named the new Pinhead. This role was originally played by Doug Bradley. Hellraiser architect Clive Barker will join the production which has already wrapped as producer.

Spyglass confirmed the news, as did Hulu. Odessa A’zion, Grand Army actress, will be the star of the movie.

The cast also includes Brandon Flynn (13 reasons why, Ratched), Goran Visnjic, ER, Drew Starkey, Outer Banks, Love, Simon), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna be Okay, Into the Dark), Aoife Hinds, Normal People, Anne Boleyn), Selina L (Boss Level), and Hiam Abbass, (Blade Runner 2049, Succession).

Marc Toberoff is also boarding as producer. He joins Phantom Four’s David S. Goyer, Keith Levine, and Barker. Bruckner will be directing a script written by Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins (The Night House, Super Dark Times), with Goyer’s story.

Peter Oillataguerre is President of Production for Spyglass. He stated in a statement that “Next year marks 35 years since Hellraiser first haunted us dreams.” Clive, the original visionary horror creator, is fittingly reunited with us. We look forward working with Hulu’s partners to bring this original take to new audiences.

Bruckner said, “It’s been an honor to have Clive aboard to support and guide us through the amazing universe he created so many years ago.” We’re looking to write a new chapter in the Hellraiser history with the help of a dedicated cast that is fearless and committed, including Jamie Clayton who perfectly embodies the role of the Hell Priest.

Goyer stated, “Clive Barker was one of my literary heroes from the moment I read The Hellbound Heart.” His work is radical and has completely redefined horror. David Bruckner is our guide and we will go back to the source, drawing inspiration from the original novella.

Barker stated, “Having seen some designs from David Bruckner’s new Hellraiser movie, they pay homage what the first film made, but take it to places it’s never been before.” This Hellraiser is on a scale I didn’t anticipate. David and his team are deeply rooted in the story’s mythology. But what excites me most is their desire for the original to be honored while they reinvent it for a new generation.

The four Hellraiser films have earned just $50M in total, and have been long a cult title for genre lovers. Six additional features were made for the home market. The franchise also includes graphic novels and merchandise.

Spyglass is responsible for overseeing the film’s production and development.
