This recall affects approximately 725,000 vehicles

Honda is recalling around 725,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to concerns that their hoods might pop open while they drive.

The company sent a notice Friday to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stating that it was recalling 2019 Honda Passports and 2016-2019 Pilots as well as Ridgeline trucks of model years 2017 through 2020 because of a hood problem.

The automaker states that the hood latch striker could become damaged or separate from the body of the hood. This can lead to the hood opening during driving.

Honda will send owners of affected vehicles formal notice letters in January. They can also call 1-888-234-2138 if they have any questions.

Any owner of one of these recalled models is welcome to take it to a Honda dealer to have the hood latch striker repaired or replaced if necessary.
