PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women’s basketball team will travel to Memphis on Saturday, January 29th at 3:00 EST. The contest will be Temple’s first since it won four of its five previous games. The game will air on ESPN+.
LAST GAME
> Temple overcame a 15 point deficit in the first half against the Cincinnati Bearcats to win its fourth contest out of five on Wednesday night.
> The Bearcats trail was 15 points at the end of the second quarter. However, the Owls cut the deficit with a 10-3 run just before halftime. The Owls continued their fight for the game in the second half. They took the lead with less than four minutes remaining in the third quarter.

THE OWLS
> The Owls are ranked third in American Athletic Conference standings after winning four of their five previous games. They will be facing the Tigers on Saturday.
> Davis is leading the conference in field goal percentage, minutes per games, and points per game. Davis is averaging 21.6 point per game and has been playing her best basketball this season in conference play.
> Clinton has been an integral part of Temple’s success this year. Clinton averages 9.0 points per match in AAC play, and is leading the team in assists.
> Freshman guard Aniya Gourdine Gourdine is the AAC freshman champion for the third consecutive season. Gourdine almost had a triple-double against USF. She scored 12 points, received 10 assists, and grabbed eight rebounds.
SCOUTING MEMPHIS
> The Tigers split their four AAC games, beating Houston and Wichita State and losing to Tulane.
Memphis’ balanced scoring attack is the key to its success. Only one player scores more than 10 points per game while six other players score more than five.
> Memphis currently ranks third in conference in rebounding, with averaging 3.2 rebounds per game.
LAST TIME THEY MEET
> In the last meeting between these two teams, the Owls beat the Tigers in freshman. Jasha Clinton Temple won 66-52 with 23 points from Temple’s James White.
> The Owls scored a season-high 19 steals and tied their season-low of 10.
Temple was able to shoot 36.4% from below the line and 71.4% from behind the foul line. The Owls were unable to score from three points, going 3-for-14 from long distance.
> Memphis had 25 turnovers this season, which was the most among Temple’s rivals.
> Junior Alexa Williamson She finished just short of a double-double, scoring 18 points and nine rebounds. Also, she tied her career high of four steals.
> Davis was the third Owl with double figures, scoring 16 points. Her stats included eight rebounds, two assists and a block.
