This week definitely marks the end of the drought that was raging until then. These periods of drought will also probably have increasingly serious consequences: the rises in temperature linked to global warming cause greater than normal evaporation, which reinforces the intensity and duration of soil drought. The start of next week will see a continuation of the wave of bad weather that has been hitting France since last weekend. The cause of these disturbances: a “zonal flow”.

This so-called flow is in fact an atmospheric circulation coming from the west, which pushes the disturbances coming from the Atlantic Ocean towards France. In the South of France, this will result in the engulfment of these disturbances in the Mediterranean basin, where they will be accentuated because of the still high temperatures of the sea. region.

At the same time, we are witnessing a drop in temperatures throughout France. A drop that could see snow fall from 1,300 to 1,400 meters above sea level. A varied meteorological impact from one area to another is therefore expected. The North-East of France should be more or less spared, while the coastal and mountainous areas of the South and the entire western flank are the subject of stormy forecasts.

Temperatures have finally dropped to a relatively normal level for the season, even if they still exceed it by one or two degrees in places. However, the strong wind makes it feel colder, so remember to cover yourself well!
