In 2022, the coveted Car of the Year title was awarded to the KIA EV6. The “Car of the Year” jury has published the names of the 7 models in the running for the 2023 title. The trends of our time are often reflected in this list: last year, 6 of the 7 finalists were electric models. This year, there are 7 out of 7, or rather 5 100% electric models and two hybrid models, according to Auto Plus.
The jury responsible for awarding the prize is made up of around sixty automotive journalists from 22 different European countries. The number of jurors per country is proportional to the weight of the market and the automobile production of the country. Thus, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain are represented by 6 jurors each. The technical modalities of the competition, such as the awarding of prizes, are taken care of by an international group of automobile magazines: the French Automobile Magazine is one of them.
The jury will meet again in early January to elect the winning model for 2023. This involves selecting a single vehicle considered the best, without weighting the rest of the results. The award ceremony and announcement of the winning model will take place in Geneva on January 13. This competition will already celebrate its 49th anniversary in 2023: in fact, its first edition dates back to 1964.
Are considered, for the pre-selection, only the models having been put on the market the year preceding the vote. Find below the list of the 7 models in the running for the Car of the Year 2023 award.
