(Montreal) The Montreal Alouettes have granted a contract extension to Montreal defensive back Marc-Antoine Dequoy which will run until the end of the 2025 season.
The Montreal team made the announcement in a press release on Friday morning.
Dequoy, a six-foot-three, 200-pound athlete, had 38 defensive tackles and intercepted four passes, including one that ended in a touchdown, in 17 starts at safety with the team in 2022. The 28-year-old also had four special teams tackles.
The Alouettes’ second-round pick (14th overall) in the 2020 auction played eight games during his rookie season with the team in 2021. He had one defensive tackle and eight on special teams. In 2020, he attended Green Bay Packers rookie camp.
A native of L’Île-Bizard, Dequoy played four seasons with the University of Montreal Carabins, helping the team get to the Vanier Cup game in 2019.
In 2017, 2018 and 2019, he was named to the Canadian all-star team and the Réseau sportif sportif du Québec (RSÉQ).
“Marc-Antoine is one of the fastest players on our league and he’s brimming with talent,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said in the official statement.
“We are very happy with this contract extension. He will be with us for several years and he will continue to assert himself both on and off the pitch. »
For Dequoy, this extension will allow him to continue his adventure in Canadian professional football in front of family and friends, and to count on the support of supporters that he describes as extraordinary.
“I can’t wait to start the season,” he admitted in the team statement. Things are looking good with the arrival of a new owner and chairman, coach [Jason] Maas and the addition of many talented players. »
