“I will not resign, I reassure you. I reassure you that will not happen. We will have to wait until 2027”, assured the Head of State this Thursday, April 4, 2023 during his trip to Hérault. Only a year after Emmanuel Macron’s election for a second term, the 2027 presidential election is already on everyone’s lips.

On the left as on the right, citizens and politicians are already thinking about the election to be held in four years. The camp of the President of the Republic is no exception. In his ranks, several important personalities are said to be eyeing his position and quietly campaigning for a potential future candidacy. Bruno Le Maire, Gérald Darmanin or Edouard Philippe are examples of this.

Also on the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon recently dubbed François Ruffin in a tweet. “François is ready. Forward!” he wrote. A statement that the interested party timidly accepted. “I say thank you to him, it’s nice, all that … it’s nice but it’s not the time”, he estimated on the franceinfo antenna. “We see a man alone at the Elysée who thinks of himself as a kind of messiah and can decide against the rest of the country. I think the French are fed up with that. What must take precedence is the team. I hope to be in it. (… ) Who believes in this context of crises, of challenges, that a little guy with his two arms by being a kind of genius will come as a superhero to solve all this?”, he then declared.

On the left as on the right, the question of who could unite the electorate arises. Polls carried out by Ifop for Paris Première* asked the Frenchman the question. Here is the ranking of political figures who could unite the left or the right.
