The month of April 2023 was strongly marked by the mass returns of pollen and tiger mosquitoes. For this month of May, it is the heat peaks that will make their appearances. If France has experienced very little precipitation in recent weeks, La Chaîne Météo seems to announce the end of these climate variations.
While the day of this Monday, May 1st was still agitated by many locally strong thunderstorms, the improvement is confirmed for this day of Wednesday, May 3, 2023. The sunny spells present this morning will turn into beautiful rays of sunshine over hours. A large part of the country is affected by a strong spring feeling.
As a bonus, the rise in temperatures will accompany this improvement with a peak of heat expected this Wednesday afternoon in the southwest.
Unfortunately, the weather will deteriorate again as thunderstorms will multiply for this weekend. The weekend of May 8 will be marked in particular by strong disruptions, as announced by Météo-France.
If the week of May 8 will be marked by violent storms, the temperatures will exceed the normal for the season. Nevertheless, these stormy showers should only last a few days before the return of warmer temperatures and sunny weather in the majority of French departments, raising fears of a return of a strong wave of drought.
“A drier and anticyclonic weather again could impose itself on the country”, indicates Cyril Bonnefoy for the Weather Channel. For the Ascension Bridge, a new heat peak is expected. In the south of France, temperatures crossing 30 degrees are forecast for the week of May 15, 2023. The northern half will experience 25 degrees as the maximum temperature.
