(New York) The New York Rangers have extended the contract of defenseman and restricted free agent K’Andre Miller for two seasons.

The 23-year-old Miller will earn $7.7 million.

General manager Chris Drury made the announcement on Tuesday.

Miller has proven to be a mainstay on defense since joining the Rangers in 2020-21. Last year, he set career highs with nine goals, 34 assists and 43 points, ranking second in scoring among Blue Shirts defensemen. He also played a key role on special teams, logging 149 minutes on the ice as the Rangers were one man short.

The American from St. Paul, Minnesota was a first-round pick, 22nd overall, in 2018. He has 21 goals, 54 assists and a plus-44 rating in 214 NHL games, all with the Rangers.
