(Montreal) Around a hundred workers at the Airbus Atlantique Canada Mirabel plant will have a new four-year employment contract.
The 111 members meeting in an assembly on Friday afternoon in Blainville voted 67.4% in favor of their employer’s new offer.
This was announced by their union, Local 712 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).
On November 12, the hundred workers who manufacture the central section of Bombardier’s Global planes rejected the employer’s first offer by a proportion of more than 98%.
“This second employment contract for the Airbus Atlantic unit establishes fair working conditions,” Local 712 President Christian Bertrand said in a statement.
The union says the new collective agreement will deliver gains that represent a 23% increase in contract value over four years, including 11.2% in the first year.
Among the benefits obtained are increases in the share of group insurance paid by the employer and in the number of paid leave. The union organization also mentions the addition of a clause limiting subcontracting, better access to overtime and the modification of the salary scale.
The signing of the first collective agreement for these workers dates back to April 2021. It expired on September 30.
