Nightmare for motorists when hitting the road for work in winter: “frost” makes a comeback with the cold. Since this Sunday, January 7, the “Moscow-Paris” crosses part of Europe and in particular France.
This Tuesday January was declared the coldest day of the week with temperatures below 0 degrees. Around fifty departments are also on yellow and orange alert for snow and ice, among them: Calvados, Eure and Yvelines.
The cold spell is expected to last at least until Friday, with a slight mild spell expected (and especially hoped for at this stage) for this weekend. In the meantime, travel by car is partially complicated on national territory.
In the Paris region, surprise snowfalls during the night from Monday to Tuesday disrupted traffic on the A13 and A12 to ensure the safety of users.
The snow even reached five centimeters locally in Yvelines, paralyzing certain roads. North of Vienne last night, many motorists even found themselves stranded for several hours, particularly on the A20 motorway and the RD 220, in Haute-Vienne.
If the situation is resolved at this stage, caution must be exercised for all departments in which temperatures are negative (i.e. a large majority of the country).
