A video shows a group of young people on Sylt chanting Nazi slogans. Sylt restaurateur Pius Regli is appalled by this and says clearly what he thinks of the club-goers’ behavior.
Pius Regli, a restaurateur on Sylt with decades of experience, commented to the “Schleswig-Holsteinische Zeitungsverlag” (SHZ) about the video in which a group of young people sing the Nazi slogans “Germany for the Germans – foreigners out”. “This is an unbelievable mess,” said Regli, who owns the “Manne Pahl” restaurant in Kampen. This cannot be excused with alcohol.
Regli makes it clear: “No tolerance for the intolerant!” And the restaurateur also harshly criticizes the guests who were standing around the group. “If the guests around had had balls, they would have given these brainless idiots a good thrashing.”
On the video, at least three young people – two men and a woman – can be heard rewriting and shouting the lyrics of “L’Amour Toujours” by Gigi d’Agostino into the xenophobic line. Another stands a few meters away and makes gestures that are very reminiscent of a Hitler beard and the Hitler salute. The owner of the Pony Club speaks of a total of five people involved. However, there are a lot of people around who don’t seem to be particularly surprised by the chants.
It’s not just Pius Regli who is horrified by the incidents. The video has now been shared hundreds of times on social networks. And the mayor of the Sylt municipality of Kampen, Steffi Böhm, also made it clear: “We are stunned and shocked,” she told the “SHZ”. And further: “The community of Kampen stands for cosmopolitanism, tolerance and diversity and clearly distances itself from any form of racism, discrimination and xenophobia.”
The police are now evaluating the video for “criminally relevant content”. In addition, the owner of the affected Pony Club shared the images and audio recordings from the surveillance camera with the officials. The state security agency is also investigating possible incitement to hatred.
