Lufthansa customers can be happy: As the airline announced, there will soon be free drinks on board again – even in economy class.

This summer, some Lufthansa aircraft will once again be offering free drinks in economy class. Around three years after the abolition of the previously free drinks service, drinks will now be served free of charge on some short and medium-haul routes, the company confirmed on Monday (27 May).

Airline boss Jens Ritter had previously announced the test run in several interviews, which could potentially lead to higher customer satisfaction. There will be selected drinks such as tea or coffee, it was said on Monday. As part of ongoing customer satisfaction analyses, customer reactions should be recorded.

Lufthansa ended the free service in economy class in summer 2021 and replaced it with paid offers. Without paying, the passengers received a bottle of water and a piece of chocolate. Hot drinks on board cost between 3 and 3.50 euros, tomato juice 3.20 euros.

The price of drinks on board has not stopped British tourists from drinking recently. On a flight to Turkey, passengers destroyed the plane’s entire supply of alcohol in less than half an hour.
