At the beginning of May, a man was killed in the street in the Berlin district of Spandau. He is said to have been shot from a moving car. Two people have now been arrested in Switzerland.
After the alleged murder of an 18-year-old in the street in Berlin-Spandau, a 17-year-old and a 21-year-old were arrested in Switzerland. The two suspects have been in custody there since Tuesday afternoon, the public prosecutor’s office and Berlin police announced on Wednesday. The Berlin authorities had issued a European arrest warrant so that the two young men could be arrested.
The crime occurred on May 6 in the Falkenhagener Feld district of Spandau. Shortly afterwards, several people alerted the police, who found the dead man on the sidewalk on the corner of Im Spektefeld and Hauskavelweg and cordoned off the area.
According to a spokeswoman, the public prosecutor’s office could “neither confirm nor deny” reports that the man killed was a refugee who lived in a nearby home. According to information from the German Press Agency, shots were fired and a stabbing weapon may have been used. Investigators said at the beginning of May that there were no indications that this could be a right-wing extremist act.
