Amanda Knox, the “angel with the ice eyes”, returns to an Italian court after twelve years to defend herself against a libel suit.

Amanda Knox was accused of murdering her roommate in Italy more than ten years ago. Now she wants to appear before an Italian court again. This time, however, she wants to defend herself against a long-standing libel suit, as the Daily Mail reports.

Knox, now 36, is expected to appear in court on Wednesday to defend her charges against Congolese bar owner Patrick Lumumba, who falsely accused her of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher in November 2007 while the two women were exchange students in Italy.

“On June 5th, I will enter the same courtroom where I was again convicted of a crime I did not commit,” she wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

This defamation suit is the only charge against Knox that remains after five court rulings acquitting her of Kercher’s brutal murder.

Kercher’s body was found on November 2, 2007, with her throat slit, in the locked bedroom she shared with Knox and two other roommates.

Amanda Knox made international headlines in 2007 when she was arrested in connection with the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy. Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were accused of killing Kercher. After a high-profile trial, Knox and Sollecito were found guilty in 2009.

However, both were acquitted on appeal in 2011 after new evidence pointed to flawed evidence and investigative errors. However, the acquittal was overturned by Italy’s highest court in 2013 and a new trial was ordered. In 2015, Knox and Sollecito were finally acquitted by Italy’s highest court.
