A missing pensioner was found after a five-hour major operation. Helicopters, search dogs and drones were used in the search.

As the “Nordkurier” reports, a pensioner who was missing on the island of Usedom was found after an intensive search. The 86-year-old man was reported missing on Monday evening after he did not return from a walk. In an extensive search operation that lasted several hours, police and rescue services as well as a helicopter, sniffer dogs and drones were deployed.

According to the “Nordkurier”, the missing senior citizen was finally found after about five hours. The pensioner was reported missing at around 9:30 p.m. The search ended happily and successfully: the man was exhausted and slightly hypothermic, but otherwise fine. After being rescued at 3:50 a.m., he received medical treatment as an outpatient.

Numerous emergency services were involved in the rescue operation. The police deployed five patrol cars and a helicopter, among other things. Police sniffer dogs and the rescue dog squad from the Vorpommern-Greifswald district were also involved in the search operation. Two drone units from the volunteer fire departments of Ueckeritz and Zirchow were also deployed.

Surprisingly, the man was found just a few hundred meters from his home address in Koserow. Apparently he had difficulty finding his way home. In Koserow, between the town and the Baltic Sea, there is a forest and a cliff that is dangerous for hikers, which made the search for the pensioner even more difficult.

In Döbeln, Saxony, the police are currently busy with another large-scale search operation. A nine-year-old girl disappeared on her way to school there, reports the police, who are searching for Valeriia with a large contingent. It is still unclear why the school did not report the missing child.
