It sounds like something out of a horror movie: In the USA, a 74-year-old woman was declared dead, but during preparations for her funeral she suddenly started breathing again.

This is a call that the emergency services in Lincoln, Nebraska, will not soon forget: The Lincoln fire department and paramedics were called to the Butherus-Maser funeral home on Monday at 11:43 a.m.

She was actually pronounced dead at around 9:45 a.m. by staff at The Mulberry nursing home in Waverly. Chief Deputy Ben Houchi explained that the lady was in hospice care and the nursing staff mistakenly believed she had died. Funeral home staff then took the woman to their morgue. However, while preparing the body for burial, an employee noticed that she was still breathing and called 911.

The Lincoln Fire Department and Emergency Services eventually took the woman to the hospital. There she was treated and was officially back among the living. But unfortunately, that was only for a short time. According to Chief Deputy Houchin, she died on Monday at 4 p.m., and this time for good.
