A couple has had twins, but the man is obviously overwhelmed. He tells his wife to find a new father for the children. The woman is desperate.
“He’s completely freaked out,” the young woman writes on Reddit. “He’s planning to go somewhere and told me to find a new father for our children. We only had the twins six months ago, I can’t afford the cost of living and I don’t know what to do. Are they going to take the children away from me because I can’t pay child support? Do I have to temporarily give up my children until I get back on my feet?”
She is struggling and it is important to her that her twins have a good life, a good childhood, but she cannot offer that to them. She has to work to pay for childcare.
The woman was in nursing school when she became pregnant and has three semesters left to graduate. “Would it be better to finish school to supplement my income than to take a low-paying job?” she wonders. “The government will cover the cost of child care if I go back to school full-time, but not if I work.”
Commenters on Reddit agree: “Sue him for child support. Garnish his wages if he refuses to pay. He can choose not to be a father, but he is a father.” Or: “Tell him the sooner the better and not to let the door slam in his face when he leaves. Then talk to a lawyer ASAP.” Another piece of advice: “Find a local group for twin moms. And finish school. Nurses make good money.”
