Vassili Cremanzidis returns to the only other MLS club he has known. Former CF Montreal assistant sports director Olivier Renard accepted the position of head of sports strategy for the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday.

He previously held various roles on the Earthquakes’ technical staff between 2016 and 2018, before spending almost six years with CF Montreal, most recently as assistant sports director.

Cremanzidis will help oversee recruiting, scouting, first-team salary cap management, team administration and roster construction.

“I would like to thank the Earthquakes for giving me the opportunity to join the club and for trusting me,” added Cremanzidis. It is important for me to adhere to the culture and values of the club, which is why I am very happy to be back in San Jose. The sports project that Chris presented to me was very exciting and motivating, and I look forward to contributing to the success of the organization. »

The 34-year-old Quebecer announced that he was leaving the CFM last week, a few days after the departure of his former boss and friend Olivier Renard.
