An NFL professional from the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a cardiac arrest during a team meeting. According to the National Football League (NFL), BJ Thomspon suddenly collapsed on Thursday and was cared for by the Super Bowl champion’s staff and doctors until an ambulance arrived. As NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero and other media reported, the 25-year-old initially suffered an epileptic seizure before cardiac arrest occurred. Thompson is currently in a stable condition.

His agent, Chris Turnage, told NFL Network on Thursday night that his client was still unconscious. “BJ is still unconscious at this time, but he is stable and his vitals are good. His family asks for your prayers,” Turnage said.

The Chiefs canceled all other team meetings for Thursday, and the planned training sessions and press rounds with head coach Andy Reid and other professionals will be rescheduled for Friday. Thompson only played in one game at the end of the regular season last season and made two tackles. The defensive end was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2023 draft.

The Chiefs will hold their mandatory mini-camp from June 11th to 13th. The reigning NFL champions have had a turbulent league break so far. Another professional has recently made headlines. Isaiah Buggs is accused of two counts of second-degree animal cruelty. The football pro is said to have left a pit bull and a Rottweiler in his house for almost ten days – without access to water or food.

Just last April, wide receiver Rashee Rice had to turn himself in to police after he was involved in an accident that left several people injured.
