This year, the cohort of recipients of the National Order of Quebec includes several well-known personalities from the world of media, such as a certain Véro, or from the world of sport with the captain of the Montreal women’s hockey team.

The government unveiled the list of the lucky ones on Thursday. In total, 26 other Quebec personalities will receive from the hands of François Legault, on June 19, the highest distinction that the province can offer.

Since its creation in 1984, the Order has rewarded personalities who “have contributed, in their own way, to shaping Quebec,” recalls the government.

The academic community is, of course, always well represented among the recipients, including the associate professor in the Department of Linguistics and Translation at UdeM specializing in Innu, Yvette Mollen, and the former president of the Société Mathématique of Canada, Christiane Rousseau, currently professor at the University of Montreal.

But there are also more popular personalities, such as chef Jean-Luc Boulay, well known for his role as a permanent judge on the show Les Chefs! on Radio-Canada, or the magazine’s Véro, Véronique Cloutier. And of course Marie-Philip Poulin, forward and captain for the Montreal team in the Professional Women’s Hockey League, who will be able to add this new badge to her four Olympic medals. The host of the show Découverte, Charles Tisseyre, is also part of the 2024 contingent.

We also remember the selection of the committed nurse Régine Laurent, who went from president of the Interprofessional Health Federation of Quebec to president of the Special Commission on the rights of children and youth protection. It was she who symbolically administered the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to Prime Minister François Legault in 2021.

Artists, representatives of the world of business, law and art, complete the list of recipients this year.

The ceremony will take place on June 19, 2024, from 2:30 p.m., at the Agora of the Hôtel du Parlement du Québec.
