Tragedy in Indonesia: A 50-year-old woman is killed by a giant python in the forest. Villagers eventually find her body in the snake.

Cruel turn of events: An Indonesian woman who had been missing for a day was found dead in the stomach of a giant python. This is reported by the “Daily Mail” among others. The mother of four was on her way to a market in Indonesia when she was attacked, suffocated and finally eaten by the snake.

According to the Daily Mail report, 50-year-old Farida disappeared while walking through a forest area near her home in the village of Kalempang to sell food at the market. When she did not return, her husband Noni, assisted by other villagers, began searching. They eventually discovered a python around six metres long with a noticeably large bulge in its stomach.

The husband and other villagers cut open the snake’s stomach and made the gruesome discovery. “He found a snake with a large stomach. He immediately suspected that his wife had been eaten by the python,” the Daily Mail quoted the head of the village where Farida and her family lived as saying. Farida was trapped in the snake’s stomach and covered in mucus. Her body was taken to the nearby Pitu Riawa district for burial according to a religious rite.

The tragic incident caused deep shock. Noni expressed his deep sadness to the Daily Mail: “I am forever sorry that I let my wife go alone. If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her.”

Pythons usually feed on birds and smaller mammals such as rats. They also eat monkeys and wild boars. It is extremely rare for pythons to devour humans, skin and hair.

According to experts, this is possible because they have two flexible lower jaws that can hang out from the upper jaw. This allows them to eat larger creatures.
