Brandon crashes his car into a deep ravine. His faithful dog runs four miles through the Oregon wilderness to get help for his injured owner.

Without his dog, he might not be alive: Brandon Garrett had a car accident, crashed his car over a steep cliff into a ravine, and spent the night there, injured and stranded. His four dogs were with him. One of the dogs ran off and covered six kilometers through the wilderness to get help for his injured owner.

According to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, the dog arrived at a campground around 9:30 a.m. Monday and alerted Brandon’s family to his plight. They immediately began searching and found the car lying on its side on the bank of a creek, several hundred feet below a roadside bluff. One of Brandon’s four dogs was guarding the car, officials said.

“When Sheriff Ash arrived, he found the car and the dog in a steep, overgrown ravine. While searching for access to the creek, he heard a person screaming for help,” the New York Post quoted the Baker County Sheriff’s Office as saying.

Rescue workers used a highline rope system to pull Brandon safely out of the ravine before loading him into a helicopter and flown to a local hospital. Officials did not release any information on Brandon’s condition but confirmed that all four dogs survived the horrific incident, according to the New York Post.
