Tragedy in Bremen: Two men jump into the Weser, presumably because of a bet. One was rescued, the other was found lifeless several days later.
A 20-year-old man who had been missing for several days was found dead in the Weser river in Bremen. He was discovered there on Friday afternoon, police announced on Saturday.
According to earlier police reports, two men jumped into the Weser in the eastern suburbs, presumably as a result of a bet. A water police boat noticed that the two men were attempting to cross the river. The younger of the two drowned.
A police officer was able to save the elderly man. The 30-year-old was subsequently taken to hospital with severe hypothermia.
Police, fire service and other emergency services searched for the 20-year-old, including using a helicopter.
