The University of Cambridge has asked its students to stop flirting with staff and staff are being asked to report any behaviour that could be perceived as a sexual advance.
Flirting prohibited: The renowned University of Cambridge has now formally asked its students to refrain from flirting with lecturers and staff at the university. This is the result of a new policy that prohibits intimate relationships between lecturers and students, reports the Daily Mail.
The policy, which is set to take effect on July 1, also warns against behavior that “could be interpreted as flirting.” According to the report, university employees have been instructed to report any behavior that could be interpreted as an attempt by a student to establish a personal, and especially intimate, relationship with them.
Students were even warned that records of “flirtatious behaviour” could be kept if the university deemed it appropriate. Staff were told to disclose any existing or past relationships or friendships with students by August 1 or face dismissal.
