Utah Jazz Unveils New Mountain Purple and Midnight Black Uniform and Logo Revamp
The Utah Jazz has decided to take a nostalgic trip back in time with a revamp of their uniform and logo. After just two seasons of sporting bright yellow and black colors, the team is now embracing the beloved purple, white, and sky blue mountain scheme that has been synonymous with the Jazz over the years.
Jazz governor Ryan Smith expressed his excitement about the return to the purple color scheme, stating that it is a key identifier for the team. The decision to incorporate mountains into the design was influenced by the fact that 85% of Utah residents live within 15 miles of the Wasatch Mountains.
The team’s new color palette includes Mountain Purple, Midnight Black, and Sky Blue, paying homage to the jerseys worn during the John Stockton/Karl Malone era from 1996 to 2004 and the Deron Williams/Carlos Boozer era from 2004 to 2010.
The rebrand is not just a cosmetic change but a strategic move to redefine the team’s identity moving forward. Working with design firm Doubleday & Cartwright and Nike, the Jazz are set to unveil new uniforms over the next two years, with the mountain theme taking center stage.
Fans can expect to see the team transition to the new color schemes gradually throughout the 2024-25 season, with the iconic mountain motif featured prominently on the jerseys. The primary logos will also undergo a slight transformation, with the team’s J-note logo receiving a purple makeover.
To celebrate the launch of the new look, the Jazz enlisted the help of Junior Jazz program participants, highlighting the team’s commitment to youth development and community engagement. With over 70,000 kids participating in the program, the Jazz are paving the way for a new era of mountain basketball in Utah.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Utah Jazz gears up for an exciting season ahead with their fresh new mountain purple and midnight black uniforms and logos.
