(Paris) The Polish Iga Swiatek, who won her fourth Grand Slam title on Sunday at Roland-Garros, is increasingly alone at the top of the women’s tennis world rankings, where she now precedes the American Coco Gauff, half- finalist.
According to the latest WTA rankings published on Monday, Swiatek is 3,707 points ahead of her new runner-up, who, thanks to her Parisian semi-final (compared to a quarter in 2023) stole second place from the Belarusian by two hundred points. Aryna Sabalenka.
Gauff, crowned at the United States Open last year against Sabalenka, thus reached the best ranking of her career at age 20.
But this edition of Roland-Garros also greatly benefited Jasmine Paolini, Mirra Andreeva and Varvara Gracheva: the Italian, finalist Porte d’Auteuil, entered the top 10 (from 15th to 7th); the young 17-year-old Russian, semi-finalist, moved up fifteen ranks (from 38th to 23rd) and the Frenchwoman, eighth finalist, moved up seventeen (from 88th to 71st).
The American Emma Navarro, eighth finalist in Paris, appears in the top 20 (24th to 18th).
The clay court of the Parisian Grand Slam tournament, on the other hand, cost six places to the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, semi-finalist last year and exit in the first round during the 2024 edition.
Caroline Garcia still leads the French colony, and, despite her elimination in the first round at Roland-Garros, even gains a place.
Océane Dodin, on the other hand, fell nine places, to 83rd position.
