Panic, the developer behind the upcoming “Thank Goodness You’re Here,” has announced a release date for the highly anticipated “comedy slapformer” game. Set in the fictional northern English town of Barnsworth, the game is scheduled to be released on August 1 for PS5, PS4, Switch, and PC (available on Steam and the Epic Games Store).
In addition to the release date, Panic has also released a short demo of the game on Steam for players to get a taste of the gameplay. A new trailer for the game has been unveiled, featuring more gameplay footage and confirming the involvement of voice actor Matt Berry, known for his work in “Toast of London” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”
“Thank Goodness You’re Here” is the brainchild of Coal Supper, a two-man team made up of longtime friends Will Todd and James Carbutt. The game serves as a surreal homage to their own northern hometown, offering players a quirky and comedic gaming experience.
The game follows the story of a traveling salesman who arrives early for a meeting with the mayor of Barnsworth. Each completed task unlocks new areas of the town, leading to even stranger challenges and building up to the salesman’s important meeting.
Featuring vibrant hand-drawn animation, fully voiced dialogue, and plenty of humor, “Thank Goodness You’re Here” promises to entertain players with its unique blend of comedy and platforming gameplay. Get ready to dive into the bizarre world of Barnsworth and experience the town’s colorful inhabitants in this one-of-a-kind gaming adventure.
