After securing his first PGA Tour victory at the RBC Canadian Open with his dad, Dougie, by his side, Robert MacIntyre has made a decision to hire a new full-time caddie. According to The Scotsman, starting from the upcoming US Open, MacIntyre will be working with Mike Burrow as his caddie.
This choice comes after an extensive search following MacIntyre’s split from his previous caddie, Mike Thomson, prior to the Ryder Cup at Marco Simone last year. Since then, MacIntyre temporarily worked with Greg Milne and later with Scott Carmichael. However, wedding commitments for Carmichael led to Burrow stepping in to caddie for MacIntyre at the PGA Championship, where the Scot delivered an impressive T8 finish.
Although the partnership with Burrow wasn’t initially permanent, MacIntyre’s victory at the RBC Canadian Open alongside his dad became a heartwarming highlight. Reflecting on the win, MacIntyre expressed gratitude for his father’s support throughout his career, emphasizing their fighting spirit on the course.
Following the temporary collaboration with his dad, MacIntyre has now confirmed Burrow as his permanent caddie. As the 27-year-old golfer prepares for the upcoming Pinehurst No.2 Major starting on 13 June, he aims to continue his success with Burrow by his side. With this new partnership in place, MacIntyre is eager to build on his recent achievements and make his mark on the PGA Tour.
