A fire spread in a high-rise complex. More than 100 people were brought to safety. The police believe it was an accident.
Two people have died in explosions and a fire in a high-rise underground car park in Switzerland. They were found in the garage. Eleven people were also slightly injured. According to initial findings, it is assumed that this was an accident and not a crime, the police in the canton of Aargau announced on Friday. What caused the explosions on Thursday evening in a residential complex in Nussbaumen is still unclear, a police spokesman told the German Press Agency.
When the police, fire brigade and rescue services arrived, a fire had already spread over several floors. More than 100 residents of six high-rise buildings connected to the underground car park were brought to safety.
“There is great chaos in the garage and immense damage to the building and the parked vehicles,” the police said. Some areas are now in danger of collapsing. The fire was extinguished during the night.
Three helicopters were also used to fight the fire. After they were prevented from flying by drones, the police called for the small aircraft to be brought back to the ground urgently.
