A teacher and mother of two documents her breast cancer treatment on X (Twitter). Now, in a final heartbreaking message, she has announced her own death.

Kate Rackham, a teacher and mother of two, was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer at the age of 39, the Mirror reports. The diagnosis came as a complete surprise, and Kate said she had no risk factors. She shared her treatment over the years with her followers on social media.

Last week, Kate apologized to her Twitter followers for her “lack of communication recently” as she went through “hospitalizations, procedures and uncertainty.” In a post she shared on June 7, she added: “And then I heard the words, ‘There’s nothing more we can do.’ I needed a bit of time.”

Now she has published her final, heartbreaking post. “If you’re reading this, it means I’m dead. But don’t cry for me. I lived my life on my own terms, the way I wanted to. I joined X because I needed an outlet, but what I got was so much more. You made me feel validated in my feelings and less alone. Thank you so much!”

Many people on Twitter are deeply affected: “I didn’t know about you until this post came out, but as a mother who just battled triple breast cancer, my heart bleeds for your loved ones,” writes one woman. “Thank you for sharing your journey with us,” comments another.
