In Grevesmühlen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a group of young people apparently attacked and racially insulted two Ghanaian girls aged eight and ten.

According to initial findings, police in Rostock said that young people from a group of around 20 people attacked the girls on Friday evening. One of the attackers is said to have kicked the eight-year-old girl in the face and slightly injured her.

When the children’s parents arrived, up to eight people attacked them too, slightly injuring the girls’ father. After the police arrived, an as yet unknown person allegedly hurled racist insults at those attacked. The eight-year-old girl and her father were taken to hospital in an ambulance, the police said.

The police say they are investigating the attack on charges of breach of the peace, grievous bodily harm, incitement to hatred and insult.
