Because of an internet trend called the “Door Kick Challenge,” young people in the USA kicked down doors. The whole thing could have ended fatally for the two of them.
Different trends keep cropping up on the internet. Some of them are dangerous, however. Young people in the USA have now taken part in the so-called “Door Kick Challenge” – and have become a case for the police. The sheriff believes that the young people could even have been shot, as stated on Facebook.
According to a Facebook post from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office on June 13, two teenagers were arrested for multiple burglaries of a home. Officers in Spring Hill, Florida, received four reports in the past two weeks “in which unknown individuals kicked the front door of a house in the early morning hours, causing damage.” In some cases, the door was even blown open. The two suspects, who were born in 2008 and 2009, admitted to the crimes, according to police.
However, it seems that the alleged perpetrators were not trying to get into the houses. One of the suspects told investigators that they kicked in the doors because of a trend on social media.
According to Sheriff Al Nienhuis, this action was very dangerous because, according to him, there was a possibility that “these young men would have been shot by a homeowner who was lawfully defending his home.”
However, there are many other dangerous trends on social media, as “The European” has summarized. Among others, there are the “Ghost Pepper Challenge” and the “Tide Pod Challenge”. In the former, people film themselves while eating hot chili peppers. Stomach problems and breathing difficulties can occur. Allergic reactions are also possible, which can even trigger life-threatening situations.
The “Tide Pod Challenge” aims to get young people to swallow colorful laundry detergent capsules. The capsules are highly toxic.
Many Americans look longingly towards Europe. Historical architecture, sophisticated metropolises and good healthcare are the most common examples. But Europeans’ love of travel also causes envy.
A father is travelling with his son to the 2024 European Championships in Germany. In a curious email, the Scot informs his child’s school – and tells them when they can expect his return.
