(Val-des-Monts) A 20-year-old young man was lucky to escape unscathed when he overturned his vehicle after losing control at more than 110 km/h, Saturday evening, in Outaouais .

According to the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police, the young man who lives in Gatineau lost control of his vehicle around 8 p.m. on Montée Paiement, in an area where the speed limit is 50 km/h .

“The vehicle ended up on its roof. One of the police officers called to the scene is also an accident scene reconstructionist. By examining skid marks and other investigative elements, he was able to establish the speed of the driver at more than 110 km/h,” the police force said in a report.

As a result of this speed-related infraction, the young man, who was not injured, will receive a fine of $1,576 and four demerit points. His vehicle is a total loss.

In another event that occurred a little later Saturday evening, officers from the same police force were confronted with a woman who decided to urinate in their patrol car.

This second incident began around 11:15 p.m., when the police attempted to intercept a vehicle that was leaving the Val-des-Monts Country Festival.

“At the sight of the police officers, the driver accelerates quickly to try to outrun them, then stops in the entrance of a closed business approximately 2 km away. At this time, there was a change of drivers, but the police observed everything,” the police report reads.

Officers determined a 24-year-old man was initially behind the wheel. They noted he has no valid driver’s license and “exhibits symptoms of alcohol impairment.”

He was arrested and taken to the station for breathalyzer testing, where the results revealed a blood alcohol level “approaching three times the legal limit.”

During this time, officers also had to deal with the other person in the vehicle, a 63-year-old woman.

“She was arrested for assault on officers, obstruction and DUI. During transport to the station, she voluntarily urinated in the patrol car. At the station, she refused to provide breath samples to determine her blood alcohol level,” according to police.

In total, tickets worth $4,276 were issued. Charges have also been filed, so the 24-year-old driver will be due in court in September.
