(London) Carlos Alcaraz began his season on grass by defeating Francisco Cerundolo in two sets of 6-1, 7-5 in the first round of the Queen’s Club tournament on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old Spaniard took over following his triumph at the French Open on June 9 and now has 13 consecutive victories on grass.

That streak dates back to last year, when Alcaraz took home honors at the Queen’s Club tournament before beating Novak Djokovic in the final of the Wimbledon Open.

Second in the world, Alcaraz improved to 17-2 in his career on grass and 13-0 on grass against players ranked outside the top 20. Cerundolo, an Argentinian, is 26th in the rankings of ATP.
