(Paderborn) French striker Kylian Mbappé feels “a little better”, his teammate William Saliba said on Wednesday, at the dawn of a new battery of tests to assess the progress of the facial injury he suffered suffered as a curtain-raiser to the European Men’s Soccer Championship.
Mbappé was injured in France’s 1-0 victory over Austria on Monday and will have to wear a mask if he is able to continue his sporting activities.
The French’s next match is Friday against the Netherlands, and the team has still not confirmed whether Mbappé will be able to play.
“I saw him this morning, he was feeling a little better,” Saliba said through an interpreter at a news conference in Paderborn. I believe he was going to undergo further medical tests. I do not know more.
“But when I saw him this morning, he looked a little better,” he added.
Mbappé will not need immediate surgery, the French Football Federation said.
